Glass House Haunting a ‘full, all-around experience’

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Spooky scenes and frightening sights are beginning to appear with Halloween fewer than two weeks away.

Nowhere is that more true than at Glass House Haunting in Redcliff.

For the second straight year youth from the Redcliff Youth Centre are taking their love of Halloween and using it to raise money for the centre and the Medicine Hat & District Food Bank.

“It’s a full, all-around experience,” says Janae Ulrich, executive director of the Redcliff Youth Centre. “What you can expect is a 12,000-square-foot haunted maze featuring tons of different animatronics, they’re all very lifelike. We’ve got some of our youth and volunteers that are scarers throughout the haunted house so you can expect to have those jump-out scarers as well, there’s different lights and sounds.”

There aren’t any age limits for Glass House Haunting and says this past weekend kids that were just months old went through.

She says they’re leaving it up to parents to decide because know their kids best.

“But do know that we definitely tone it down for kids as well,” she says. “It’s all kids that are located in the haunted house so just let them know that you’ve got a little one coming around the corner and they handle it really well.”

Glass House Haunting is in a new location this year, Suntaira Growers at 332 Fourth St. SW in Redcliff. The new facility is about 4,000-square-feet larger than last year’s and they’ve added food trucks to the fun this year.

Cha Cha’s Mexican Street Grill, Gypsy Girl Woodfired Pizza, The Bourbon Brothers ice cream shop D.L. Snack Shack and Pop’s popsicle truck will be on site. Nathan Nunweiler with IG Wealth Management has donated all the candy this year.

Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat is this year’s gold sponsor, Spirit Halloween gave a discount on animatronics. Other sponsors include UFA Medicine Hat, Sun City Ford and Maverick Oilfield Services.

Glass House Haunting is open 6-10 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 6-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It is closed Sunday and Monday but will open for Halloween on Sunday, Oct. 31.

Admission is $5 or $3 with a donation of a non-perishable item for the food bank.
