MEDICINE HAT, AB – After scoring 14 goals in their first six games the Medicine Hat Cubs matched that total in two wins this weekend.

At home on Sunday, the Cubs lit the lamp nine times en route to a 9-1 victory over the High River Flyers. That followed a 5-3 road win over the Coaldale Copperheads on Saturday.

Head coach and GM Randy Wong said it was good to see the offensive display.

“Not that the pressure was on the guys but certainly the focus was to try and fill the net,” he said.

High River has struggled so far this year and Wong said the Cubs were eager to take advantage of that.

“Our guys are just trying to compete and learn out here against some weaker teams and make sure that we’re ready and stronger when we play the stronger teams,” he said.

The Cubs, with a 4-3-1 record so far this year, travel to High River for a rematch with the Flyers on Friday and face the Lomond Lakers on the road Saturday.
