Part of Division Avenue North closed next week

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The portion of Division Avenue next to the Family Leisure Centre ball diamonds will be closed for about one week starting on Oct. 19.

Workers will conduct excavation and directional boring under the road from 20th Street to Northlands Way NE to upgrade gas infrastructure in the city’s north end.

The city says northbound traffic will be detoured west on 20th Street NW past the Family Leisure Centre and around to Rotary Centennial Drive. Southbound traffic will be detoured east on Northlands Way NE and back out to Parkview Drive NE.

The trail on the west side of Division Avenue will remain open for pedestrian access. The sidewalk on the east side of Division Avenue will be closed through construction.

Beginning Oct. 18, contractors will conduct maintenance work on the vehicle bridge in Kin Coulee Park. The bridge will be close to pedestrian and vehicle traffic during the work.

It is expected to be finished in about one week.
