MEDICINE HAT, AB – The City of Medicine Hat is making it easier for voters to get to the polls on election day, Oct. 18.

The city says people will be able to take Medicine Hat Transit to their designated voting station for free on election day.

“We want to ensure everyone has the ability to cast their vote in the municipal election,” said Angela Cruickshank, returning officer for the City of Medicine Hat. “Removing transportation barriers will help to ensure voters have access to the polls.”

People can check page one of their city utility bill or use the online interactive map on the city website to find out where their voting station is located.

Special Transit will also be free on election day. New users must pre-register by calling 403-502-8018 before 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 to book your trip to the voting station. Regular Special Transit clients can book through their current methods.

Face masks are required to be worn while riding the bus, as per provincial public health measures. Medicine Hat Transit will offer face masks to passengers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
