Local bulldog loves wheels over walks

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Dogs learn how to sit, lay down, and maybe even shake a paw.

However, one local dog’s tricks are a step above the rest.

Meet Hugo. He’s a five-year-old English bulldog who loves to skateboard. Hugo’s owner Kelby Weaver has had him since he was a puppy and shortly after is when Hugo took up skateboarding.

Hugo found Weaver’s board laying around and figured out how to ride on his own. Now, he prefers the wheels over walks and is pretty good at what he does.

“The last probably year and a half is when he actually started picking his feet up,” Weaver said. “Just ’cause of when he wears out his paws they get a little tender so eventually he knows that he has to pick them up or they get sore because he burns them out.”

Weaver says the best part of his skateboarding dog is that he never has to cut Hugo’s nails.
