MEDICINE HAT, AB – Since he started painting in early 2020, Rogan’s fame has grown exponentially.

What’s the big deal about Rogan? For starters, he’s a dog.

“It’s incredible to see him all over the place just from a simple trick that we enjoy doing together,” says his owner Megan Bolen.

His latest painting venture sees Rogan partnering with Vancouver Island-based Foley Dog Treat Company.

A bag of the company’s treats features one of Rogan’s paintings and 100 per cent of the sales are going to Alberta Herding Dog Rescue.

“Rogan is a herding dog, a very high drive herding dog,” says Bolen. “So the Alberta Herding Dog Rescue is very close to our hearts.”

The treats can be purchased at Foley website. The limited edition bags are $10 each and have been on sale for about two weeks.

The treats are sourced from both Rogan’s and Foley’s backyards, featuring Alberta beef liver and B.C. blueberries.

Rogan’s fame took off after Bolen began posting his work to Instagram and Facebook.

Prior to the deal with Foley, Rogan has been raising money for local organizations like APARC, the Medicine Hat SPCA, and Persian Dreams and Canine Themes Rescue Society.

Rogan paints and Bolen sells them on social media. He’s done about 200 paintings and raised close to $8,000.

Rogan’s work is also currently featured in an art exhibition in Hong Kong.

“It’s really close to our hearts to be able to turn this fun little thing that we do with our dog to helping other animals and to be able to get a huge chunk of money from these treats so quickly and to a rescue is so wonderful for us,” says Bolen. “And also it’s something that, like I’ll be talking about it in the nursing home 80 years from now. That time my dog had his own treat that he painted and we got to raise money from it.”
