As the result of the latest health measures in Alberta, a number of planned events in Medicine Hat are being postponed or cancelled altogether.

In a video posted on Twitter Tuesday, Halo Air Ambulance CEO Paul Carolan announced the agency’s “Turf to Tarmac” charity fundraiser has been postponed.

“In light of recent public health restrictions and the increasing pressure on our health care system, we feel like this is our only prudent choice,” Carolan said.

The event, a formal gala, was scheduled for Oct. 7. No potential future date was mentioned.

Meanwhile, NewRock Developments is cancelling it’s “send-off” for the Medicine Hat Arena.

The event, which would have included a so-called walk down memory lane, was slated for Saturday, Sept. 25.

“Rising COVID numbers and yesterday’s announcement from the province have left us with this challenging decision,” read a Facebook post by the company.

And the annual “Historial Fundraising Dinner” by the Legal Archives Society, which was set for this Thursday, is being postponed until an unknown date.

“After considering several possibilities to successfully and safely host this event, it is with tremendous regret that the Legal Archives Society of Alberta has made the difficult decision to postpone the dinner in Medicine Hat on Sept. 23 featuring the Honourable Russell Brown,” a statement on the society’s website reads.
