A special fundraiser that could get your taste buds going is set to take place this weekend in Medicine Hat.

The 2nd annual Harvest Takeaway is being held Saturday, September 18 at the Mustard Seed Community Centre.

On offer are twenty dollar soup kits, which include locally grown ingredients such as potatoes, corn, beets, zucchini, and a soup recipe that is gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian.

All proceeds go to the Mustard Seed’s health and wellness programs, including a daily meal offering.

“We’re planning to have occupational therapy services, we’re looking at I.D.. clinics, we have our laundry program starting up soon,” said The Mustard Seed’s managing director Colette Eirich.

“We want to help give people ‘a hand up'”, Eirich added.

Saturday’s event, which runs from 11 a.m to 4 p.m., will also include a farmer’s market.

Participants are asked to register online.

“You have until midnight to buy your soup kit and when you purchase it you have to pick a time to come and that way we have crowd control. We have everything in place (including) hand sanitizer. We ask you to bring a mask. If you don’t have one we have one so we’ll follow all the protocols as needed,” Eirich said.
