Elections Canada encouraging voters to double-check polling location

MEDICINE HAT, AB – With voters going to the federal election polls on Monday, protocols at the polls will look a little different due to pandemic restrictions in place.

Leanne Nyirfa with Elections Canada says there will be a number of health and safety measures in place. Voters and poll workers will be required to be masked and social distancing, and plexiglass barriers, single-use pencils and hand sanitizing stations will also be used.

Polling locations also might be different this year and Nyirfa is encouraging voters to double-check their cards.

“In some areas, some locations, for example, schools, we were not able to use them for this election,” Nyirfa said. “Our returning officers have had to find different locations in some areas so it might be a little bit different from the last federal election when you voted so we do encourage everyone to check their voter information card.”

If you still haven’t received a voter information card, contact Elections Canada. You can still register up to and including election day.
