Traffic lights to begin flashing at Gershaw Drive overpass

Sep 10, 2021 | 10:11 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The traffic lights installed around the Gershaw Drive and Trans-Canada Highway overpass will begin flashing at the end of Friday.

The signals will flash yellow for traffic on Gershaw Drive, and red for traffic on the Highway 1 on and off ramps.

In a release, the City of Medicine Hat says the signals should be treated like the previous stop sign controlled intersections. The yellow flashing lights indicate proceed with caution for the traffic on Gershaw Drive, while red flashing lights indicate traffic must stop and proceed when safe for the traffic on the Highway 1 on/off ramps.

The lights will flash for about one week and will switch to full operation on or before Sept.16
