‘A buzz in the air’ for the 2021 Parade of Homes

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Put on your walking shoes, the 2021 Parade of Homes starts tonight.

The celebration of the talent and hard work of Medicine Hat home builders features seven homes from seven builders in three developments this year.

At one of the homes a few hours before the parade opens, Joel Bosch says there’s an energy in the air.

“I’m really excited it feels like there’s kind of a buzz in the air especially out here in Coulee Ridge I know they’ve been working really hard out here for a while,” said the president of the Medicine Hat chapter of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

He says people who take in the parade will see a little bit of everything.

“I think that’s the great thing about Medicine Hat and the Parade of Homes and the builders here. It’s so custom, I mean every house you go into you’ll see something a little different and I think that’s what makes it so cool and I think that’s what people love about it,” says Bosch. “I feel like it’s a good mix. I don’t think you’ll see one thing twice.”

The homes are open for free viewing Wednesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. until Oct. 3.

Bosch says it’s been a busy year for his industry and that new home building permits are just about double what they were at this time last year.

He says early in the year people that had held off building last year came all started working at once in the spring. That’s levelled out somewhat, Bosch says, and he expects a steady pace going forward.
