12 St NE intersection to close for six weeks

MEDICINE HAT, AB– More detours are on the way for motorists. An intersection near Crescent Heights High school will be closed for six weeks beginning September 9.

The city said in a press release that works to replace water and sanitary infrastructure on 2 Avenue NE requires the closure of the 12 ST NE intersection.

According to the city, Traffic traveling eastbound on 12 Street NE will be allowed to turn around at the construction zone to facilitate drop-off and pick-up on the north side of the road for students at Crescent Heights High School.

While the replacement of water infrastructure occurs residents and businesses may see minor impacts to service. But those affected will be given 24 hours notice prior to the disruption of service, the city said.

Construction work on Second avenue NE began in July, and it is intended to improve water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.
