Six names on federal ballot for Medicine Hat riding

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Voters in the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner riding will have six choices when they mark their federal election ballot.

The finalized list of confirmed candidates is posted on Elections Canada.

Incumbent Glen Motz is running for the Conservative Party of Canada. He’s joined by newcomers Diandra Bruised Head (Green Party of Canada), Brodie Heidinger (People’s Party of Canada), Geoff Shoesmith (Maverick Party), Jocelyn Stenger (New Democratic Party) and Hannah Wilson (Liberal Party of Canada).

In the last federal election in October 2019, Glen Motz was elected by a landslide, taking 79.2 per cent of the vote. The NDP’s Elizabeth Thomson followed with 8.7 per cent.

In the Bow River riding, which includes Brooks and Taber, Martin Shields will seek re-election under the Conservative Party banner. He won in 2019 with 83.9 per cent of the vote.

Also running in Bow River are Orrin Bliss (Maverick), Jonathan Nicklos Bridges (People’s Party), Tom Lipp (Christian Heritage Party of Canada), Michael MacLean (NDP) and Getu Shawile (Liberal).

The deadline to register as a candidate was Aug. 30.

Election day is Sept. 20.
