City now taking special ballot requests

Sep 2, 2021 | 11:14 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – City residents who won’t be here to vote in the municipal election advance polls or on election day can now request a special mail-in ballot.

“We want to ensure electors of Medicine Hat have the ability to have their say in the municipal election, regardless if they’re away from the city during the election period,” said Jessica Robinson, deputy returning officer. “Special ballots are a safe and secure means for electors to cast their vote.”

Requests for the special ballots are now being accepted and must be made to Robinson before 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 4.

You can request yours or get more information by emailing jesrob@medicinehat.ca or calling 403-529-8382.

It is the responsibility of the voter to complete the ballot package and return it by mail or in-person by 4:30 p.m. on election day, Oct. 18.

Polls will be open on election day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at various yet-to-be-determined locations.

Advance polls will take place Oct. 9 and 12-16.
