Police respond to serious collision near Moose hockey rink

The driver of a moped scooter suffered serious injuries, after colliding with a car around 3:34 p.m. Tuesday.

City police traffic investigators say the car was turning in front of the scooter while trying to get into a parking stall.

The moped driver was flown to Calgary hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

The city police traffic unit continues it’s investigation, but there’s no word yet if any charges will be laid.

Medicine Hat police responded to what they called a serious motor vehicle collision this afternoon.

It happened at about 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of Division Avenue and Sixth Street SE, next to the Moose hockey rink.

Police have asked the public to avoid the area as it expected it be closed for an extended period of time.
