Medicine Hat, AB–Update to the original story.

The necklace containing the ashes of Emma Gosselin’s son was recovered by Police on August 26th, 2021.

A local woman is hoping for the safe return of something very precious.

Emma Gosselin told CHAT News that someone went through her vehicle after she forgot to lock it for the night before bed.

Gosselin says “they decided to take my beautiful necklace off my rear view mirror….to some it’s just a nice necklace but little do most know it’s the necklace that holds my sons ashes.”

Gosselin is really hoping that whoever took the necklace returns it.

Medicine Hat Police say vehicle entries are a recent trend occurring throughout the City.

Police say in all the cases, the vehicles were unlocked and had valuables such as keys, credit cards, and cash inside.

In response to this trend, Police will be increasing resources with the goal of identifying and charging those responsible.

In the meantime, the Police Service says the public can help by ensuring vehicles are locked and securing all valuables. Any suspicious activity should be reported to police immediately.

Anyone with information that could assist with this investigation into vehicle entries is asked to contact the Medicine Hat Police Service at 403-529-8481.
