Northside Starbucks set to open early September

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Coffee lovers will soon have a new place to get their brew.

The northside Starbucks is set to open the first week of September.

Under the original timeline, the location on the corner of Altawana Drive and Parkview Drive was to be completed in July. But due to delays caused by the pandemic and weather, the opening is still a few weeks away.

The new development has spaces for three other businesses and the property manager says conversations about filling the vacant businesses are underway.

“We are negotiating with some local businesses as well as some national franchises that showed some interest in coming into Medicine Hat,” Ilse Vanderwesthuizen said. “The challenge at this point is finding franchisees.”

The new Starbucks will also have a drive-thru.
