Two employees at long-term care facility test positive for COVID-19

MEDICINE HAT, AB – CHAT News has learned two staff members at Masterpiece Southland Meadows have tested positive for COVID-19 recently.

According to an email, a fully vaccinated nurse tested positive in July. As a result, the facility was placed on outbreak status for 14 days.

No other residents and staff in long-term care tested positive for the virus. The outbreak status is set to end tomorrow.

However, a food services worker tested positive earlier this week. She worked two shifts during her infectious period, serving food. This employee was also fully vaccinated.

As a result, the AER unit has been placed on outbreak status and all residents and staff in that area will be tested.

CHAT News reached out to Masterpiece for more information but was told no one would be available to speak to us until Tuesday.
