30 new cases in city, 369 in province

Medicine Hat has another 27 active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations up to 113 in Alberta

There are 169 active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat on Friday.

Medicine Hat has had 1,456 total cases – the 169 active, 1,265 recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

The city has more than half (55 per cent) of the active cases in the South Zone, 169 out of 309.

There are 30 new cases in the city since Thursday and three new recoveries.

61.1 per cent of Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update. 54.6 per cent of Hatters are fully vaccinated.

There are 2,719 active cases in the province, up 193 from Thursday, and 230,966 recovered cases in the province, up 180.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 236,010.

There are 369 new cases in the province today, and 133 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 113 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 25 of which are in ICU, and 2,325 deaths.

The province completed 7,294 tests in the past 24 hours.

The positivity rate is about 5.1 per cent.

Alberta has administered 5,365,607 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 76.2 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 66.4 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 64.8 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 56.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 309 active cases and 12,450 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 138. There are 14 people in hospital in the zone, none in ICU.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of July 19-25 is 1.48. It is 1.50 in Calgary Zone, 1.37 in Edmonton Zone and 1.48 in the rest of Alberta.

It’s updated every two weeks. At the last update from July 5-11 the numbers were 0.84, province-wide, 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.97 in Edmonton Zone and 0.69 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 340 cases. There are 36 active cases, 303 recovered and one death. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 52 per cent, the two-dose rate is 45.

The County of Forty Mile has 158 total cases. There is one active case, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 30.7 per cent, the two-dose rate is 26.8.

The MD of Taber has 576 total cases — four active cases, 566 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 37.6 per cent, the two-dose rate is 33.

Special Areas No. 2 has 106 total cases – one active case, 104 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,540 total cases — 26 active cases and 1,499 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 254 cases — five active cases, 246 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 51.1 per cent, the two-dose rate is 43.6. The Newell numbers include the city of Brooks.

The County of Warner has 470 total cases. There is one active case, 466 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 46.9 per cent, the two-dose rate is 40.7.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,897 cases. There are 43 active cases, 4,814 recovered and there have been 40 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,276 cases, 10 active cases, 1,252 recovered and there have been 14 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Aug. 5, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 50,338 cases, 549 considered active. There are 49,207 recovered cases and there have been 582 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
