Co-op Place hiring for food and beverage positions

MEDICINE HAT, AB – When Co-op Place starts roaring during Tigers and rocking during concerts this fall staff will be needed to keep fans fed.

Co-op Place is getting ready for that, hosting a two-day hiring fair this week.

“We’re hiring for all of our food and beverage positions for Co-op Place to get kind of back up and running for the fall,” said Trampas Brown, manager, guest experience and operations, this week. “We’re gearing up for a big fall and just excited to welcome people back into the building.”

He said more than 100 people attended the first day on Wednesday and he’s optimistic they’ll see even more on Saturday.

He says they are looking for everything from suite servers to bartenders to fry cooks and need to fill about 120 positions in total.

Brown adds the job is good for anyone 15 years or older looking for a side job or part-time work on evenings or weekends.

“Honestly, we’re looking for people with a positive attitude,” he said. “Experience is always great but it’s totally not required. We’ve had a handful of kids come in where it’s going to be the first job and we’re excited to have that variety because really the variety is what makes customer service work really well with the people in the building.”

He says the nice thing about the events industry is it’s always busy and it’s was something new.

“You get to work with some great people, you get to work some great events and you’re always, always busy. The days fly by and you get to have some great experiences.”

If you’re attending Saturday, Brown says to bring your resume and references and be prepared for an interview on the spot. The fair runs from noon to 6 p.m.
