Little League Major AAA plays exhibition against Quebec ahead of season opener

MEDICINE HAT, AB – You get better as an athlete by playing those better than you.

That’s what the Medicine Hat Little League Major AAA team experienced today.

“Fun, we’ve never really played much against other teams like this,” pitcher Ethan Chenard said. “They are really good, it’s good competition for us.”

Medicine Hat played the Diamond, a team from Quebec that’s playing exhibition games across Canada. Today, they were in the Hat for a doubleheader.

“It shows they can play some of the best players in Canada,” the Hat’s head coach Chad Nelsen said. “The fact that they can compete and react”

During this first game, down by 12 in the fifth inning, Medicine Hat tried to make a comeback scoring 3 runs, one right after each other.

The home team lost game one 12 to three, the Diamond also won this afternoon’s game.

Diamond head coach Benoit Blais praised the home team.

“We had a great start, we hit the ball hard,” Diamond head coach Benoit Blais said. “In part of the game, the guys were a bit tired, it showed during the game. The other team played well.”

Medicine Hat officially opens its season this weekend with a home tournament.
