Public asked to respect fire ban after crews extinguish grass fire Saturday afternoon

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A full deployment of resources was required by the Medicine Hat Fire Service in order to put out a grass fire Saturday afternoon.

Chief public information officer Paul Blasetti said the fire was believed to have started near the path heading into Strathcona park.

The fire was contained quickly, but Blassetti said it is important for people to respect the current fire ban in place. The fire ban prohibits all open burning, including wood burning fire pits and charcoal BBQ pits.
