Alberta Transportation: Highway work can only be done during the day; October completion expected

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The week started with another day of traffic backed up on the Trans-Canada Highway.

One of the two projects is about to wrap up, but the other one will cause delays until October.

The intersection improvements at Highways 1 and 3 are almost completed except for some landscaping.

The other project includes the installation of 120 new lights, starting near the South Saskatchewan River and ending by Kin Coulee Park.

Because of the nature of the project, Alberta Transportation says the work can only be done in the day, not at night. Drivers can expect speed and lane reductions to continue, resulting in traffic delays.

The project is 50 per cent complete and is expected to keep traffic backed up until the project is finished by October.
