After months of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seven Albertans have won prizes at The Big Spin and The Bigger Spin prize wheels.

The two-day event saw seven Albertans spin the wheel at the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis office in St. Albert on July 15 and 16, which ended with over $3.5-million in prizes being awarded, including the first ever biggest spin prize.

“It was tremendous to see a number of Albertans have a chance to claim their The Big Spin and The Bigger Spin prizes this past week as AGLC gets back to regular gaming activities,” Steve Lautischer, Vice-President of Gaming and Cannabis told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “We thank all those who were patient in waiting for a chance to spin over the last number of months and are happy to see them claim $3,525,000 in prizes.”

Winners of The Big Spin include Dyllan Dokken of St. Albert, who won $175,000; Alberta Beach’s Michael Casselman, who took home a $200,000 prize; Bernard Rosier of Calgary who won $500,000; and Yellowhead County’s Eileen Balaban who spun her way to a $500,000 prize.

Shelly Briggeman of Edmonton, June Johnson of Calgary and Lethbridge’s Paul Kenway won prizes at the Bigger Spin. Briggeman spun her way to a $350,000 prize, June Johnson won the $800,0000 prize, and Kenway won big and walked away with the $1,000,000 prize.

Kenway, the first ever top-prize winner of the Bigger Spin, told the WCLC that he plans to completely pay off his debts and put aside some money for his children’s education.
