Eleven active COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat; Alberta hospitalizations down to 100

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat is back into double digits.

There are 11 active cases in the city on Monday.

Medicine Hat has had 1,274 total cases – the 11 active, 1,241 recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

There are two new cases in the city since the last update on Friday and no new recoveries.

60 per cent of Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update.

There are 605 active cases in the province, up 26 from Friday, and 229,885 recovered cases in the province, up 102.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 232,806.

There are 130 new cases in the province since the Friday update, and 115 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 100 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 27 of which are in ICU, and 2,316 deaths.

The province completed 15,220 tests since the Friday update.

The positivity rate is about 0.9 per cent.

Alberta has administered 5,056,062 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 74.8 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 59.7 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 63.6 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 50.8 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 28 active cases and 12,376 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 135.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Monday AHS South Zone currently has four COVID-19 positive individuals in hospital. There are two at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, one at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and one at the Pincher Creek Health Centre.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of July 5-11 is 0.84. It is 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.97 in Edmonton Zone and 0.69 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 303 cases. There are two active cases, 300 recovered and one death. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 50.5 per cent.

The County of Forty Mile has 157 total cases. There are no active cases, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 30.1 per cent.

The MD of Taber has 572 total cases — one active case, 565 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 36.7 per cent.

Special Areas No. 2 has 105 total cases – one active case, 103 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,503 total cases — one active case and 1,487 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 248 cases — two active cases, 243 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 49.7 per cent, including Brooks.

The County of Warner has 468 total cases. There are no active cases, 465 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 46.1 per cent.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,844 cases. There are seven active cases, 4,798 recovered and there have been 39 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,264 cases, one active case, 1,250 recovered and there have been 13 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day July 18, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 49,450 cases, 262 considered active. There are 48,613 recovered cases and there have been 575 COVID-19 deaths in the province.

Saskatchewan has delivered 1,350,671 doses of vaccine.
