Jul 15, 2021 | 4:47 PM

A tornado tore through Barrie, Ont., uprooting several trees and damaging several homes.

The storm touched down in the Prince William Way and Mapleview Drive area of southeast Barrie at around at around 2:40 p.m., shortly after Environment Canada first issued a tornado warning for a wide swath of the region.

Barrie Police spokesperson Peter Leon told CP24 that the damage from the storm looks “catastrophic” and something that you might see in a “war zone.”

According to CP24 meteorologist Chris Potter, who lives in the area, the storm appeared to be on the ground for about 10 to 15 minutes and left an approximately two-kilometre path of destruction.
