Six new cases in city, 90 in province

Medicine Hat up to six active COVID-19 cases

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat has tripled over the weekend but is still in the single digits.

There are six active cases in the city on Monday.

Medicine Hat has had 1,269 total cases – the six active, 1,241 recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

There are six new cases in the city since the last update on Friday and two new recoveries.

59.7 per cent of Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update.

There are 624 active cases in the province, down 51 from Friday, and 229,570 recovered cases in the province, up 141.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 232,501.

There are 90 new cases in the province since the Friday update, and 59 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 112 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 34 of which are in ICU, and 2,307 deaths.

The province completed 15,876 tests since the Friday update.

The positivity rate is about 0.6 per cent.

Alberta has administered 4,868,593 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 74.1 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 55.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 63.1 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 47 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 22 active cases and 12,367 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 133.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Thursday AHS South Zone currently has four COVID-19 positive individuals in hospital. There are two at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge and two at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of July 5-11 is 0.84. It is 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.97 in Edmonton Zone and 0.69 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 302 cases. There is one active case, 300 recovered and one death. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 50.2 per cent.

The County of Forty Mile has 157 total cases. There are no active cases, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 29.7 per cent.

The MD of Taber has 572 total cases — one active case, 565 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 36.3 per cent.

Special Areas No. 2 has 104 total cases – no active cases, 103 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,503 total cases — zero active cases and 1,488 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 248 cases — seven active cases, 239 recovered and there have been two deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 49.2 per cent, including Brooks.

The County of Warner has 468 total cases. There are no active cases, 465 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 45.5 per cent.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,838 cases. There are five active cases, 4,794 recovered and there have been 39 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,263 cases, no active cases, 1,250 recovered and there have been 12 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day July 11, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 49,279 cases, 397 considered active. There are 48,309 recovered cases and there have been 573 COVID-19 deaths in the province.

Saskatchewan has delivered 1,304,646 doses of vaccine.
