Highway 1 construction projects continue through Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT — The end is in sight for some, but not all, of the highway construction projects underway in Medicine Hat.

Alberta Transportation says paving of the median cross-over near the Sixth Street intersection will be completed this weekend.

It will be coordinated with the on-going light replacement to minimize traffic disruptions.

A new median system is to be installed at the intersection in the near future.

The long lines of traffic along Highway 1 due to replacement of street lights will continue.

Crews are removing existing lighting and installing new poles, lights and wiring from the east side of Kin Coulee along the Trans Canada corridor to the South Saskatchewan River.

Work also continues at the intersection of Gershaw Drive and 8th Avenue S.W.

Paving at that location is expected to be completed this weekend, with lines painted next week.

All that remains for that project will be activating traffic signals along Gershaw Drive for traffic exiting the Trans Canada highway at Highway 3. That will happen next week.
