Two dozen new records in Alberta

June 14 temperature records set in Medicine Hat and region

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Environment Canada says two dozen daily temperature records were set in Alberta on Monday, including in Medicine Hat, Bow Island and Brooks.

According to Environment Canada, the temperature in its Medicine Hat area reached 37.6 C, topping the old record of 36.7 C set in 1933. Records in this area have been kept since 1883.

Yesterday’s high temperature in the Bow Island area was 36.8 C, shattering the old mark of 29.3 C set in 2009. Records in this area have been kept since 1961.

The new record in the Brooks area is 36.4 C. The previous record was 36.1 C, set in 1933. Records have been kept for the area since 1912.

More records could be set Tuesday as Medicine Hat and much of southern and eastern Alberta remain under heat warnings on June 15.
