MEDICINE HAT, AB– For Peyton Blundon and her mother Kim, the Page and Whisker has become a place where the two would go for mommy-daughter dates. Lined with books and cats up for adoption, the store offers something for everyone. So earlier this month when they found out the store had to move due to issues with their landlord, little Peyton was shattered.

“She started crying, and said, ‘ well how much money do they need? And I said the GoFundMe page is $15,000. And she said, well can we just give them $15,000? And I said no we can’t we don’t have that kind of money,” mom Kim Blundon said.

That’s when Peyton got the idea to hold a fundraiser at her house.

“ I didn’t want the store to leave because it is such a great place.

She collected donations and gave out freezes as a thank-you.

“ The really cool thing about it is nobody wanted a freeze, they wanted to donate,” Blundon said.

In total, $1810.03 has been raised so far. And Peyton is not done yet, A fundraiser will be held at the School Blundon works at to raise additional funds.

“I just think it is super important for childhood, adult, and teen literacy and that’s why we support this place so much. We do not want to see it go,” Blundon said.

For the staff at the Page and Whisker. Peyton’s initiative and kind-hardheartedness is very much appreciated.

“It’s overwhelming I have no words,” said staff member Dawn Wolf.

“It’s just so awesome that a little girl, eight-years-old has such a sweetheart to want to do something for other people, and animals,”
