MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat police responded to two potentially dangerous calls this afternoon.

The first call was for a bomb threat directed at the Medicine Hat Provincial Courthouse.

Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene and evacuated people as a precaution. The threat was unfounded and the investigation will continue.

Less than an hour later, police responded to a threat of a male with a weapon in the Northlands area.

The armored truck was on scene and police had their guns drawn.

After an hour of negotiation, the situation deescalated. A 37-year-old male walked out with his hands up and was taken into custody.
