Alberta Health Services is offering walk-in, first-dose COVID-19 immunization at its clinic in Medicine Hat on Saturday.

Immunization will be available with no appointment from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday at Higdon Hall.

The same walk-in, first-dose COVID-19 immunization will be offered in Brooks at the Kinsmen Hall from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. ongoing beginning on Thursday.

Full details can be found on the AHS website.

Other similar clinics in the South Zone will be held in Taber, Lethbridge, Magrath, Raymond and Fort Macleod.

AHS says anyone who needs a first dose of Pfizer vaccine is encouraged to attend any one of the above clinics.

AHS first announced the clinics on Twitter and asks people bring their Alberta Health Care card if you have one, along with photo ID. You will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when attending the site for your immunization.

Any existing immunization appointments at the clinics will go ahead as scheduled.

The province is pushing first doses vaccination rates have slowed down.

On Monday, Premier Jason Kenney said there has been diminishing demand for vaccines with only 100,000 people scheduled over the next week.

To meet the 70 per cent threshold to remove all restrictions for Stage 3 of the Open For Summer plan, Kenney said 115,000 more people need to receive their first dose of vaccine.
