Jun 7, 2021 | 3:08 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Galaxy Cinemas in Medicine Hat will welcome movie lovers to the theatre on Thursday when Alberta will move to Stage 2 of the Open for Summer plan.

The company has announced that all its theatres in the province will reopen on that day. There will be enhanced safety and cleaning measures as well as updated procedures to allow for physical distancing inside and outside the theatre.

Theatres in Alberta will reopen at 30 per cent capacity, based on guidelines provided by public health authorities.

As well, movie-goers will be asked not to arrive more than 15 minutes before showtime.

“We recognize the new appreciation our guests have for the theatrical experience and we can’t wait to welcome them back to our theatres, as nothing compares to the big screen and big sound that we’ve been missing for so long,” said Sarah Van Lange, executive director of communications, Cineplex. “We continue to prioritize health & safety measures to ensure that our theatres are a safe, relaxing, and inviting space for movie-lovers to escape with family and friends.”

Cruella, A Quiet Place Part II and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway are some of the films showing on the first day.
