Alberta judge dismisses mistrial application, trucker to be sentenced in hotel death
EDMONTON — A judge has dismissed an Ontario truck driver’s application for a mistrial after he was found guilty of killing a woman in his Edmonton hotel room.
A sentencing hearing was to start this week for Bradley Barton, but it was postponed after the 52-year-old asked for a mistrial.
In February, a jury convicted Barton, who is from Mississauga, Ont., of manslaughter in the 2011 death of Cindy Gladue.
Gladue, a 36-year-old Metis and Cree woman, bled to death in a bathtub at the Yellowhead Inn.
