board's trust and faith 'shaken'

Constituency association wants Barnes reinstated to UCP caucus

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The United Conservative Party Cypress-Medicine Hat constituency association says it is disillusioned by the party’s expulsion of MLA Drew Barnes from the party caucus.

In a letter address to the premier and the UCP caucus and posted to Facebook on Wednesday, the board of directors says its “trust and faith in the UCP government to govern reasonably and responsibly is shaken to its core.”

Barnes was booted from the caucus along with Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen on May 13.

The local constituency association says the expulsion of Barnes “was not only contrary to the Grass-Roots (sic) vision and foundation of the UCP, but an affront to the democratic values of Alberta.”

The association is requesting the immediate reinstating of Barnes, with all his rights and privileges.
