AHS claims some Albertans trying to block others from receiving their COVID vaccine

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services says some people in the province are trying to prevent others from getting their COVID-19 vaccine.

On Wednesday, AHS stated that it’s been made aware of individuals on social media claiming to have booked multiple vaccination appointments “in an attempt to prevent other Albertans from receiving their dose.”

AHS noted that it has shared this information with law enforcement, as well as pharmacies in Alberta administering doses of the vaccine.

“AHS has systems in place to prevent double bookings through our online tool and Health Link 811,” the health authority stated on Twitter.

“We are also watching our no show numbers to determine if false bookings are being made. We are not seeing an increase in no shows.”

AHS stated that by working together and ensuring appointments are made available for every eligible Albertan, the pandemic can be brought under control faster.

Earlier this week, the province announced the launch of an interactive vaccine coverage map.

The map includes information on the percentage of people who have received at least one dose, the percentage of those who have been fully immunized and the total number of doses that have been administered in communities across Alberta.
