Camp at home for the May long weekend

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The May long weekend is known for the start of camping and enjoying the outdoors.

But if you’re sticking close to home, you can still get the feel of a cozy campsite.

Tourism Medicine Hat’s Camp-At-Home initiative is underway for the second year.

Executive Director Jace Anderson says it’s a great way to start off May long.

Whether that’s a tent in your backyard, RV parked in the driveway, or a homemade indoor fort.

Participants are encouraged to send in a photo of their Camp-At-Home adventure or call the visitor information centre for a chance to win one of two camping prize packs.

Just use the #CampAtHome and tag @TourismMedicineHat in your social media posts.

Anderson says there are also a couple of hotels offering Camp-At-Hotel packages.

“If you’re not going to be getting out to a campsite and maybe you’re not setting up a pillow fort in your own home, you can get into a hotel. And they’re going to provide you with either some smores and some other things for a Camp-At-Home experience indoors.”
