Mental Health Week

Move for Mental Health on this week

May 4, 2021 | 2:43 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – You can Move for Mental Health over the next few days as part of Mental Health Week.

The 8th annual fun run/walk is not only connecting people on a local level but on a global level as well.

For the second year in a row, the event is taking place online.

Program manager of Community Coming Together, Patti Wagman says through EventBrite, people have signed up from all over the world, including participants in South America, Mexico, Italy, Bangladesh, and the U.K.

You can take part wherever you live and enjoy any activity that gets you moving.

There’s also a designated trail marked with green ribbons and interactive mental health signs at Sunrise Rotary Trail at Medicine Hat College.

Though the annual walk is virtual again, Wagman says it’s great the event and mental health awareness can be spread out across the globe.

“If you have something that is not working for you physically, you go and see a doctor. If your tooth hurts you go and see a dentist. So if emotionally you’re struggling, reaching out for help whether that’s with a friend, pastor, or counsellor, just being able to work through that is just as important as your physical health,” Wagman said.

To make your pledge to move visit the Eventbrite link.

Move for Mental Health runs for the rest of the week and it is free.
