RCMP: Fatal collision between train and car in Cypress County

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB – One woman is dead after a collision between a train and a car about 15 kilometres west of Medicine Hat.

The collision happened at about 1:30 p.m. on April 29 at Range Road 75 near the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to Redcliff RCMP, the investigation indicates that the car was travelling north on Range Road 75, while the train was travelling east when the car was struck.

The female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger, 19, was extracted by Cypress County Fire Emergency Services and EMS, and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both occupants are from Medicine Hat.

The collision remains under investigation.

The name of the deceased will not be release and no further updates are anticipated.
