Tigers playing Oil Kings, Hurricanes to wind down season

CALGARY – The Medicine Hat Tigers have seven games left this season beginning on Thursday night against Edmonton.

The Western Hockey League have released an updated schedule after games were cancelled this month following a positive COVID-19 test within the Calgary Hitmen team cohort.

The Tigers will face the Edmonton Oil Kings on the road April 22, return home to host the Oil Kings April 24 and will be back in Edmonton April 25.

The following weekend the Tigers will play the Lethbridge Hurricanes. They’ll again be on the road Thursday (April 29), host the ‘Canes on Saturday (May 1) and back in Lethbridge on Sunday (May 2).

The Tigers will finish their schedule by hosting the Oil Kings on May 6.

Medicine Hat will only play 23 games this season instead of the originally scheduled 24.

The Calgary Hitmen were cleared to return to play after completing their 14-day isolation period and following further testing for COVID-19, which yielded no positive results. The WHL suspended team activities for the Hitmen on April 8 following the positive test.

The Tigers were deemed a close contact of the Hitmen due to playing them the weekend prior. team activities were suspended and the Tigers’ series against the Hurricanes from April 9-12 was put on the shelf.
