Alberta introducing paid leave for workers to get COVID vaccine
The provincial government will introduce legislation that will ensure working Albertans can get time off from work to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Workers will be able to access up to three hours of paid, job-protected leave to get the vaccine.
The legislation to amend the Employment Standards Code will be introduced in the legislature today and will take effect upon first reading, says Labour and Immigration Minister Jason Copping.
“By providing choice without consequence, we continue to protect the lives and livelihoods of all Albertans, he says in a release. “Nobody should have to choose between getting vaccinated and putting food on the table and with this legislation, nobody will have to.”
