Local family still waiting to celebrate Christmas

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Unopened presents under a now dead Christmas tree are part of a local family’s home.

Even though it’s April, a Medicine Hat family hasn’t celebrated Christmas yet, and they won’t until their American-based son can join.

With the borders closed due to the pandemic, Linda Stickle’s son couldn’t make it home for the holidays. Her other son says they can’t have Christmas without him.

Until the border reopens, Christmas is on hold. However, the Stickles still virtually enjoyed the holidays in December.

“We watched the smaller children open their gifts from their home on our computer,” Stickler said.

The family doesn’t know when they can fully celebrate Christmas of 2020. In the meantime, they are keeping the holiday spirit alive.
