Lethbridge doctor becomes seventh Alberta health-care worker to die of COVID

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – The Alberta Medical Association reports a Lethbridge physician has died from complications related to COVID-19.

Dr. Wayne John Edwards, who was 66, died on Tuesday (Apr 13) at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

Alberta Health confirms the death and spokesman Tom McMillan said the source of the exposure in the death is unknown.

The most recent statistics from Alberta Health Services, show Edwards was the seventh health-care worker to die from COVID-19 in the province.

The Alberta Medical Association released a statement on social media that they are saddened by the death.
