Locals receive COVID-19 vaccine and say little to no side effects

Apr 15, 2021 | 5:00 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Chat News talked to some Medicine Hat residents who were able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Those who we spoke with received either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine.

They went to their local pharmacy or Higdon Hall.

And they say they had little to no side effects after receiving the vaccine back in March, or as early as this week.

“I hate needles and I never felt this one little bit. I a had a little bit of stiffness maybe 5 hours afterward but nothing to be afraid of and I feel great.”

“The shot itself went fine, I’m a bit of a wimp but I didn’t even feel the needle go in. I got a little sick the next day with a bit of a fever. I call it the ‘man flu’ because it wasn’t much but it knocked me flat. So I was glad I took the day off and it didn’t last long. I had it for a few hours and it went away later that day.”

“I had no side effects, my arm wasn’t sore. I had none of the side effects that they said might happen so I guess I was lucky.”

“It was fine. I’m not really feeling any consequence from it. I’ve been taking Tylenol just to get a jump on the aches if they do show up. I think my arm hurt for 30 seconds yesterday and that was about it, I’m doing alright.”

“I highly recommend everyone get it (vaccine) and they say the best vaccine is the one that’s in your arm, so take it if it’s offered.”

They also say booking their dose was a smooth process and they were in and out within a half-hour.
