69 students at Eagle Butte High School in quarantine

Apr 7, 2021 | 8:53 PM

Medicine Hat, AB–The Prairie Rose School Division says AHS has identified a positive case of COVID-19 in an individual who attends Eagle Butte High School. The positive case puts the school on Alert status.

69 students and 4 staff members have been identified as close contacts and are legally required to quarantine at home until April 20, 2021. Siblings and other close family members of close contacts do not have to self isolate but are asked to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

Close contacts are being notified by school staff. Anyone who does not receive a call is not a close contact and can continue to attend class.

Those who are required to isolate will continue to be supported by the school through online and remote learning methods.

The school division says the individual who tested positive was last in the school on April 6, 2021. No other personal details are being released because of privacy and in accordance with AHS guidelines.

Eagle Butte remains open to in person learning and the school is working with AHS to ensure all necessary measures are in place to protect students and staff.

Custodial staff have been instructed to conduct enhanced cleaning including focusing on areas where this individual was present.
