Apr 3, 2021 | 11:23 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB- A garage in the Kensignton area was found fully engulfed in flames
when fire crews arrived early this morning.

Kevin Heinrich of the Medicine Hat Fire Service told CHAT News, the fire service received the report of the fire at around 2a.m. this morning.

Crews worked to ensure the fire was contained and did not spread to the other garage across the alley.

Heinrich said much of the contents in the garage were already fully engulfed so they could not save much of the items.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing, according to Heinrich.

Late yesterday evening, crews were also called to assist Cypress County in putting out a grass fire located northeast of Medicine Hat near the river.

According to the Cypress County Fire Department Facebook page, the cause of the fire was due to a down power line.

The rough terrain meant fire crews could not use fire engines.

Dunmore Wildland 1, City of Medicine Hat brush 2, and squad trucks from Box Springs, Irvine, and Seven Persons were called in to assist.

A staging area was set up at the top of the riverbank to ensure units were filled with enough water to fight the fire.

Dunmore Wildland 1, City of Medicine Hat brush 2, and squad trucks from Box Springs, Irvine, and Seven Persons were called in to assist.

The fire was fully extinguished by 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
