Positive case of COVID-19 identified at École Connaught School

Apr 1, 2021 | 9:30 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Alberta Health Services has identified a case of COVID-19 at École Connaught School, placing a school on Alert status.

The Medicine Hat Public School Division posted a notice about the case on Wednesday evening.

As a result of the case, the division says AHS  has directed some students and staff to quarantine for a specified time period. All close contacts of the positive case have been identified and are already in quarantine.

“We will support this individual and their family and wish them a safe and speedy recovery,” reads the notice. “We ask families and students to show compassion and kindness for those that have been impacted by a positive COVID-19 case. As always, we will work collectively to foster a safe, caring and welcoming school environment.”

As it seems the exposure only affects a small group of students based on AHS guidance, staff and students who have not been directed to quarantine can attend school safely, the notice says.
