Get a hot meal from the Salvation Army on Good Friday

Mar 31, 2021 | 3:10 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Salvation Army is offering a free hot meal to everyone in the community on Good Friday.

The dinner will take place at The Salvation Army’s Community Resource Centre (476 Fourth Street SE) from 5-6 p.m.

Guests will be served individual lasagnas with Caesar salad and breadsticks, cupcakes for dessert, and receive an Easter treat bag.

Capt. Lorenda Dale, Corps Officer at The Salvation Army, says COVID has made things more difficult for a lot of people and they want to give people a feeling of community.

She says that during COVID people have lost a bit of what she says makes us human: socializing and supporting each other.

“So it’s so good that people know they can come out they’re lined up and even if they don’t get to come in they’re lined up they see other people, they see a friendly face when they come to the door,” Dale says. “They get a nice meal, an Easter treat bag to walk away with and knowing that someone cares. They might feel like they’re alone through COVID but they’re not alone. That there’s someone there to support them and be there for them.”

Due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, seating will be limited to 24 people or people can take meals to go. Handwashing and sanitization stations will be provided, and masks must be worn indoors unless eating.
