Firefighters camp out for a cause

Mar 23, 2021 | 5:03 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat firefighters need your help.

In support of muscular dystrophy, firefighters will be sleeping on the roof of the Trans-Canada Way station starting on Thursday.

The annual Rooftop Campout is on a mission to raise $10,000. Donations were just over $2,000 as of Tuesday.

After last year’s event was cancelled, firefighters are excited about braving the cold for a good cause.

“This year it’s looking like it’s not going to be too bad,” firefighter Dylan Gustafson said. “Might be a little snowy but I think that will help with the event and get people to feel sorry for our guys that are up there sleeping in the elements. But it should be fun no matter what.”

Donations will be accepted until noon on Saturday. To donate, click here.
