City looking at different options for Canada Day

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Canada Day is just over three months away and many are wondering how Medicine Hat will celebrate.

The City of Medicine Hat is planning this year’s activities after the Canada Day committee dissolved last year.

Aaron Nelson with the city says there are no firm plans for this July. With the evolving changes in the Alberta government’s path forward, he has multiple scenarios in the works.

He’s keen to offer a celebration to the community with safety as a top priority.

“We can’t say right now we’re going to do a big, massive Canada Day celebration and we can’t say we’re scaling it back. But we have plans for all of those in between,” Nelson said.

The city is also looking for a community group that wants to take on planning Canada Day.
